About Poe Mack

When defining what an independent hip hop artist is, you would describe an artist who writes, records, produces, and engineers their own music. A more detailed description would include booking their own shows, tours, and features. A shorter description is summed up in two words, Poe Mack, as he embodies all of those traits. With a grandfather who was a musician, and an aunt that is a singer, Poe was born into a musical family. Poe Mack began focusing seriously on his rap career in 2003, and to date has completed multiple tours spanning 15+ states, and giving back to his surrounding communities in multiple charitable ventures.
Roughly around 2007, Poe Mack started booking and financing his own tours including a 2011 Middle East Micfest Tour, with 9 th Wonder and Jamla Records. With over 1,000 live performances under his belt, he has shared the stage with numerous underground hip hop artists, and some of hip hops elites such as 9th Wonder, Rapsody, Kendrick Lamar, Trillville, Ying Yang Twins, T.I., Kelly Rowland, Keith Murray, 2 Chainz, King Mez, Cesar Comanche, Rapper Big Pooh, Jane L. Powell, and Eternia.
Hailing from Roanoke VA, Poe has worked with producers and other artists in Canada,
England, and South Africa. His music has been played on various radio stations including 101.5FM (Roanoke, VA), 97.3FM (Richmond, VA), 88.1FM (Durham, NC), 97.0FM (South Africa), 90.7FM (Blacksburg, VA), and 90.3FM (Rhode Island). His name has been in print and online in outlets such as Spin Magazine, Respect Magazine, New York Times, Roanoke Times, The News Herald (Morganton, NC), DJ Booth, and Newsweek. Aside from being featured on the airwaves and in print, Poe Mack was the subject of an exhibit highlighting the history of Roanoke VA hip hop in the Taubman Museum of Arts.
While living in his passion and love for hip hop Poe Mack always makes it a point to give back. Poe has contributed and performed in benefits, for instance, the VA Tech Massacre 2007 ($12,000 raised for families), Toys For Tots, Ovarian Cancer benefit, Breast Cancer awareness, and Generosity Feeds. Poe is also an active member in his community with his hand in the Downtown Music Lab (Roanoke, VA) and Character Rocks (Anti-Bullying). He is also an instructor of his "Hip Hoponomics" youth program, covering indie hip hop studies with youth between the ages of 12 – 18 years.
Poe Mack’s non-stop work ethic and drive, not to mention levels of musical talent and stage presence were key components for Rawsole Records extending an enthusiastic invitation for him to join the label's roster of heavy hitting hip hop artists in January 2017.
